ABSTRACT

The topic of women’s issues including domestic violence was not, until recently, widely discussed in Georgian media. This analysis examines how the issue of violence against women has been covered in contemporary Georgian print media. The methodology focuses on the systematic examination of news stories in the daily publications Akhali Taoba, Resonance, 24 Hours, and Alia, and the weekly publications Kviris Palitra, Kviris Qronika, Prime Time, and Versia. The research method used was content analysis, together with qualitative methods through in-depth interviews with Georgian journalists and media experts.
