ABSTRACT

The projected extension of the city will create for us a large number of palace-like structures, that are, however, only to be dwellings for the wealthy commercial trader, the senior civil servant and the small rentier. But what is to become of the middling Viennese, of the large number of little people who are there: the countless private officials and workers of all categories, and not forgetting the small tradesman and official? Probably not much.
