ABSTRACT

This final chapter offers a reminder of the significant highlights, identifies some of the things discovered during the journey, and suggests some fruitful areas for future investigation. The first area addressed by the RSA Risk Commission in their October 2007 Risk and Childhood report corresponds with one of our own particular interests, namely how children and young people deal with risk in the choices that they make. As children from the society of the future, it is essential that it give them the understanding, skills and support they need to form appropriate risk attitudes and make good choices. Individuals, organizations, families and communities form part of a national and international picture, and these higher levels exercise subtle influences over their constituent parts. Looking to the future, it expects to see frameworks such as the Six A's applied to understanding and managing risk in wider society, not just for individuals or decision-making groups.
