ABSTRACT

In a ‘sudden’ or ‘simmering’ crisis you may well have to consider bringing in outside experts who specialize in what is colloquially known as ‘lobbying’. The more accurate term is public affairs consultants, and most large companies or organizations have their own in-house capability that usually reports to the communications director. Small and medium-sized firms probably find it more cost-effective to bring in outside consultants on a project basis as and when needed.
