ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the aftermath of the contract signing when the negotiators have moved on to the next deal and the companies must embed their new partnership into their respective organizations and deliver the value promised by the modelling. Multi-lateral deals are probably the least frequent as the governance the decision making can spiral out of control very rapidly if there is no complete overarching agreement on the roles and responsibilities of the parties. In the event of a dispute several courses of action are open to the partners, provided of course that the issue is not already clearly addressed in the contract and cannot be resolved in the first instance by agreement at the joint committee of the alliance. A successful alliance or licence termination is one where both parties would be willing to work together again.
