ABSTRACT

With the advent of information technology and the globalization of almost every aspect of human life, modern societies and their organization have grown from isolated and mostly uniform social groups that functioned within geographically distinct areas to operating and interacting with diverse groups and entities from all over the world. This breach of boundaries and the interconnectedness of the physical and the newly discovered virtual worlds has also affected leadership as a phenomenon and practice. A project and team orientation of work in modern organizations was necessary to allow for frequent adjustment to the constantly changing social and market environments.
