ABSTRACT

This chapter explains a business practices linking to corporate ownership structure, corporate governance and employment systems for this They covered a range of industries including mining, financial services and manufacturing. Ownership and corporate governance, one concern had been over the potential impact that the merger might have on the relationship between management and shareholders. ServiceCo is a large business servicing both domestic and international markets. At the time of the study, the company employed something in the order of 38,000 workers, including a reasonably high proportion of casuals and contractors. And ResourceCo 2 is a large international resources-based company, formed as the result of the merger of a UK company. ServiceCo's corporate governance generally conformed to an insider/ relational form of company identified in the literature. The dominance of this corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy seems, at least in principle, to have had important implications for the company's labour relations and employment practices.
