The senior manager in charge of the investigation, the documents co-ordinator and the lawyer should remain in the control room at least until the first wave of enquiries have been completed. All members of the project team should report their progress to the control room and, if possible, should attend a full debriefing at the end of the first day and regularly thereafter. Analyse the results of the First Step, and plan further action for the short, medium and long term. Establish a list of new and follow-up actions, and allocate tasks on action sheets. Make sure the continuity of evidence is preserved. Revise the Fraud Theory and Investigations Plan, and complete all actions as quickly as possible. Also advise employees, and keep them informed, as far as practicable, as the investigation continues. The lawyer should prepare press releases, and handle all enquiries and media interviews.
