ABSTRACT
We now turn to navigating the emancipatory path of economic renewal, still based in the East, this time via China’s contemporary brand of recently branded Xiaokang (well-being oriented – see below) economic socialism: following in the footsteps of an originally developmental economy, and associative economic foundation. In this chapter, then, we shall be turning from Japanese micro-enterprise to Chinese macro-economy, from now a critical emancipatory social, political and economic perspective, drawing most specifically on the work of the political economist Lin Chun. But first let us briefly revisit the recent Japanese economic case.
