ABSTRACT

A story of origination, in relation to individual and community, in general, is now told in relation to Grameen, in Bangladesh, in particular. Such an origination story, in fact, has compelled the attention of millions, inside and outside the country. It is a story of the relational activation of community-and-organizational character both within Grameen as an enterprise (Grameen means village in Bengali) and of the Bangaldeshi people with whom it has engaged over three decades. To that extent Grameen and its founder Muhammad Yunus has been engaged in building up a Social Business:

Participating in a State of Passionate Involvement.

Uncovering the Character and Identity of Communities whose Needs he Served.

Describing the Nature and Scope of Socio-Economic Exchange processes Required.

Involving Colourful Renderings of Experiences rather than Measurements.
