ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a specific micro-enterprise, Sekem, from an Integral Dynamic perspective, in relation to the development of a particular society. Specific Chinyika project, in a general Zimbabwean context, is now being enriched and enhanced, by individuals and groups engaged in related research and educational masters and doctoral programmes. The scramble for Africa: the colonization of Zimbabwe, overall in fact, was part of the closing scenes of the European partition of Africa. The push factor for colonization included the dynamics taking place in the West, particularly the economic crisis in Britain that provoked the search for new markets, raw materials and job opportunities elsewhere, in the middle of the nineteenth century, due to overproduction punctuated by under-consumption. In Integral Dynamic terms, nature and culture was a source of historical conflict rather than co-evolution, so that the military and technology, politics and economics were to rule the roost.
