ABSTRACT

This chapter serves as transformative culmination of the 'Eastern' developmental path; it turns towards a Developmental University, organisation and society. It embodies, at least to some degree, a new kind of educational and developmental institution, which can effect the journey of the self, the co-evolution of organisations, and the furthering of communal and societal consciousness altogether. The chapter includes major development challenges derived thereof. At this stage it is of primary importance to identify, how ones organisation or community can reach out into society at large, thereby becoming a veritable agent for societal development. The Muslim faith with its major emphasis on balance and justice, Buddhism and Hinduism with their rejection of material accumulation beyond fulfilment of basic needs, First Nation people with their resource-conscious way of living in harmony with a sacred Mother Nature are further examples. As Integral Developers are purposefully tap into the realm of a society's culture and spirituality.
