ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the year-end external audit of Fox River. It also describes the auditors and their relationship with the staff at the company, and examines the book-keepers room where the entire audit was conducted. The chapter provides various tests that were carried out by the auditors. The tests had to be done while Sara was performing her day-to-day duties and as such the audit process was a haphazard affair. Nonetheless, the audit was carried out in a good-natured atmosphere with much banter between the auditor and the company staff, particularly the book-keeper who assisted the auditor with most of the audit tests. It was noted that little time was spent by the auditor with the company’s senior management. The auditor vouched numerous accounting transactions to documentation for example, the journals folder, the paper contracts, paper invoices and sought explanations for her tests for example, cut-off tests, contract testing and analytical review.
