ABSTRACT

The editors of this volume do not begin to pretend that this is an all-inclusive review of human-robot interaction (HRI), in the military or otherwise. This volume primarily focuses on U.S. Army related research and, though the U.S. Air Force is represented, does not take into account the efforts made by other branches of the military within the U.S. As well, civilian research is limited in its representation, and, though depicted with input from Germany, Israel, and the Netherlands, many of the advances made by foreign researchers are not discussed in this volume. It is, however, the wish of the editors that this volume will have an effect and provide some benefit for each of these communities.
