ABSTRACT

The term ‘design technique’ is used to describe a technique that is used by designers during the early design life-cycle of a particular system, device or product. When designing products or systems, designers may utilise a number of design techniques in order to inform and evaluate the design process. There are a number of different types of design methods available, such as interface design techniques and group design techniques. Design with Intent is a method that can provide initial design inspiration from a varied range of domains to provide a usable interface. Allocation of function analysis is used during the design process in order to allocate jobs, tasks, function and responsibility to the human or machine for the system in question. A focus group is a group interview approach that involves using a group of appropriate participants to discuss a particular design, prototype or operational system. The mission analysis technique is a cockpit design methodology to generate cockpit design requirements.
