ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the ways in which organizations tackle technology investment issue and look at benefits tracking and benefits focused planning for projects. The main purpose of the business case is to set the agenda for the proposed change in human resourcs (HR) technology and to identify the component costs and the benefits that the organization may expect as a result. A balanced business case will demonstrate the strong potential offered by new technology to improve the quality of management in the organization and that there are wider benefits to be gained. The business case for HR technology investment demonstrated an opportunity to improve service levels significantly through the automation of the production of correspondence to candidates. The chapter has only skimmed the surface of many issues but it has highlighted those clear areas where the effective Business Partner can, and is increasingly expected to, play a major role in the shaping and implementation of technology within an organization.
