ABSTRACT

The contemporary library is a centre of learning, engaged in a two-way process to simultaneously provide digital resources and learn about how their users engage with them. As Niggeman et al. explain, memory institutions are adapting to large-scale digitisation in meaningful ways:

For centuries, libraries, archives and museums from across Europe have been the custodians of our rich and diverse cultural heritage . . . culture is following the digital path and “memory institutions” are adapting the way in which they communicate with their public.
