ABSTRACT

In this chapter I will ask if and how cultural heritage functions as a tool for supporting the identification of young people in their own culture and society and if and how cultural heritage supports the empowerment of young people as members of their own society. In order to do this, I will analyse cultural heritage as one part of the everyday culture in which these young people are living. As an example in my analysis I will use activities of the art programme Myrsky (Storm) which was aimed at young people and organised and funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
