ABSTRACT

Procter and Gamble began in 1837 as a small, family-operated soap and candle company. Today it is a multinational manufacturer of products that include personal care, beauty care, household cleaning, laundry detergents, healthcare and disposable nappies. In 2009, it had almost 140,000 people employed, working in over 80 countries, and sales in over 180 countries. Although the company name, Procter and Gamble, may not be that well known to most consumers, its brands certainly are. It has around 300 different brands, sales of over $83 billion and net earnings over $10 Billion. It has 23 brands in its portfolio with each over $1 billion in sales per annum.
