ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on some specific steps one can take to self-certify their unique project management (PM) skills. The good news is that most of the work of articulating PM skills and collecting them together in one place has already been done. In fact, that's very good news indeed, since this is the hardest and most tedious part of creating any certification. One need only three things to achieve professional results, they are professional-grade tools and materials; the guidance of accurate information or tutoring; and practice in doing what the professional does. In the field of PM all three of these are available to free of charge or at very low cost. More importantly, they are available as an individual, regardless of membership in any PM-related organisation or exclusive dues-paying club. One simply need to go after these things and spend time practising PM in their own, real-world projects.
