ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to provide an overview of employee engagement through focusing on three key fundamentals:

engagement strategy;

stakeholder analysis;

engagement as a journey.

This chapter purposefully avoids deeply technical discussions, particularly about effectiveness measurement and this selection, development and management of particular communication channels and engagement techniques. Instead, it focuses on ensuring that the strategic thinking that lies behind the tactical delivery of engagement efforts is robust and will help practitioners deliver engagement that will make a difference to the organisation and its people.
