ABSTRACT
In 1952, Martin Gardiner published a book entitled Fads and Fallacies in the Name of Science. In this book he examined a number of pseudoscientific claims. Fifty years later we have an entirely new crop of fads and fallacies in science – in mainstream science, not in the fringe we normally think of as pseudoscience. These fads are promoted by respected scientists who work at respected institutions. What are some of these fads and fallacies, and what have they to do with the occasion of Robert John Russell’s sixtieth birthday and the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences?
