ABSTRACT

The way we organize our activities is connected to the definition of roles and professions. Just as traditional organizations led to the creation of a new world of professions and jobs, so the coming changes will have profound impacts on the structure of work. I have described how novel activities in the organization of the future will require competencies that we have not yet well defined. Many of these changes will occur as we develop new technologies and new operational approaches to coordinate activities within organizations. It is therefore very difficult to attempt to identify those future jobs at present without providing an account that may prove to be completely arbitrary.
