Poulenc gave this interview in the maid’s room he had lived in since 1936, at 5, rue de Médicis in Paris. It was not until 10 years later that he moved to an apartment in the same block, previously occupied by his uncle Marcel Royer, known as ‘Papoum’, who had just died.
