ABSTRACT
Some NCs, although lacking recognition, enjoy broad legitimacy and support; others, while enjoying recognition, are viewed with suspicion. How can this situation occur? How much does NCs’ closeness and being in agreement with influential elements within the Church influence their process of recognition and legitimation?
