ABSTRACT
Argentina is organized as a democratic and representative republic under the form of a federal state. This fact determines the electoral system of the national and provincial States. 2 The Argentine electoral system is characterized by provincial autonomy that defines the ability of provinces to enact their own constitutions, regulate their own local institutions and choose their authorities without the intervention of the Federal Government.
