Methodological Remarks: Data Acquisition in the Networked Places of EU Diplomacy in Nairobi

This study pursues a critical geopolitical research approach that is sensitive to both the places and social dynamics through which European diplomacy is enacted in Nairobi as well as the local and wider geopolitical contextualities within which such enactment takes place. Through affiliations with the EU Delegation and the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies I had important gatekeepers that facilitated my access to informants and allowed for deeply ‘immersing in the field’.
