ABSTRACT

Strategic risk analysis has been given increased attention in recent years and attention seems to be focusing on evidence based analysis. Although there are various interpretations of risk and there are different risk models, managers do need to prioritize risks, and identify current and future threats in the short, medium and long term, and deploy enterprise risk management to provide situational analysis. With respect to risk analysis, it is crucial that managers develop an understanding and an appreciation of risk, the causes and sources of risk, and the consequences and the interdependence of the various risks and their sources. By placing risk assessment at the centre of the strategy process, it should be possible to connect with all the other areas of business activity. The key point is that enterprise risk management can only be successful if risk is broken down and a response can be in real-time, and this means that technology and managers must work together.
