ABSTRACT

This chapter starts with United Kingdom (UK) Cyber Security Strategy and changing threats, continues with cloud computing: opportunities and threats and follows with insights into counteracting cyber attacks. The international context is given attention and a glimpse at organizational considerations is provided. By drawing on the UK Cyber Security Strategy, it is possible for senior managers to integrate the organization's cyber security strategy with those of partner organizations and to work closely with government representatives so that the nation has a robust cyber security strategy in place. It can be suggested that senior managers need to engage more fully in what is known as enterprise risk management (ERM). When addressing the topic of cyber threats, it is unrealistic to think that the problems identified can be placed in a national security context only. The potential problem associated with attacks on communication networks has been made known and to deal with the problem effectively, international cooperation is needed.
