ABSTRACT

Phishing is a scam that uses email to fool people into visiting a fraudulent website or parting with personal information such as passwords and login details. A few years ago phishing emails were relatively easy to spot, often being filled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. As phishing is getting more and more of a threat one thing that can be useful to do is run a simulation in order to give people a taste of spear-phishing. Cyber criminals have been targeting travelling executives to steal sensitive data for 4 years, according to a security firm Kaspersky Lab report in late 2014. The 'DarkHotel' campaign has infected hotel networks with spying software that then infect the computers of hotel guests when they connect to the hotel wi-fi network. The scam works by tricking the visitors into installing malware by disguising it as updates for common software such as Adobe Flash.
