ABSTRACT

The cost-benefit ratio of a solution is the comparison between how much it costs and what benefits it brings. Making judgements about acceptability can be difficult, but one way is to try to think through the implications of a particular solution. Different solutions will take varying amounts of time to implement. Again, solutions designed to simplify or provide information on performance can often be the quickest to implement, adding to their advantages. Conversely, implementing training solutions and organizational changes can take a considerable length of time to happen. Weighted pair ranking is an effective way of sorting a list of possible solutions using a structured and rational approach. The Nominal Group Technique is a method originally developed by Delbecq and Van de Ven that brings together the power of brainstorming with the fairness of a proportional voting system.
