ABSTRACT

In this chapter I will outline some interesting aspects of narrative theory, issues regarding intelligent agents and AI characters, and the problem of virtual environments, interactive cinema and art. These three issues may not seem relevant to interactive heritage and digital history, but I will put forward five main arguments to make the case that actually they are important, and that understanding and resolving these issues will help improve both the scholar's awareness of the education potential of agents and narrative, and the designer's understanding of how narrative, cinematography and artificial intelligence (AI) can be better integrated into their projects.
