ABSTRACT

Now, we are somewhat to blame. When there is a design review or project meeting, who fronts up the presentations? The project manager. The design manager and systems engineers are right behind him queuing to get onto the stage and demonstrate their engineering skill and ingenuity at solving the latest technical problems. They are proud of their work and forward in their desire to demonstrate their skills. But where is the cost engineer? Sure the costs usually get an airing, the costs are reviewed and even the whole life cost could be considered. The cost engineer or estimator is working on the next task, bidding for the next job or assessing the cost risks of the next phase of the project.
