ABSTRACT
The cost engineering profession’s relationship with Microsoft originally began with the spreadsheet program called Multiplan in 1982, but this eventually lost popularity to Lotus 1-2-3, which combined spreadsheet functionality with charting and some simple database functionality. Microsoft released the first version of Excel for Windows 2.0 in November 1987.
