ABSTRACT

This chapter presents definitions of the competitive Intelligence's various accounting terminologies such as assets, book value, capital, capital employed, cash, cost of sales and current assets. Assets any sums of money owed to the company or things that it owns that have a monetary value. It is divided into: fixed assets and current assets. The notional book value of the company is shown in the balance sheet under shareholders' funds'. In the context of the balance sheet it means the issued share capital of the company. Capital employed usually defined as fixed assets plus working capital. Cash includes actual notes and coins in the company's tills and safes plus whatever is in the company's bank accounts. The direct costs incurred in achieving the company's sales, items such as wages and raw materials. Current assets will be used up in the course of the coming company financial year.
