ABSTRACT

Failing to plan is planning to fail – or so the saying goes. It can be easy to claim that there isn’t enough time to plan but this becomes a vicious circle; without taking time to plan, effort is unfocussed and more likely to be ineffective. Time and energy is wasted on scatter-gun activity. It is important to break this cycle and spend time on strategic planning. This doesn’t have to be onerous or take a lot of time. It is actually a very simple process and a rewarding one to go through. It is also a good opportunity to involve project team colleagues and stakeholders which helps to gain buy-in for the communication activity as well as find out more about project work stream plans and activity.
