ABSTRACT

Complex projects like the development of a commercial aircraĞ require tight monitoring and control, using many tools and methods developed by classical project control. The basis of classical project control consists of a recursive feedback loop comprising the following steps:

initial planning of activities; performing the planned activities; monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), in particular with regard to

variances to baseline plans; as well as gaps to targets and objectives;

identification of corrective actions, if any; leading to the establishment of a recovery plan with a new and improved forecast trend; implementation of recovery actions; back to monitoring of (updated) KPI status; and so on.
