ABSTRACT

In the context of product development, requirements represent an essential means of communication between an issuing and a receiving organisational party. The issuing party establishes requirements to describe its needs. The receiving party demonstrates its possibilities and capabilities by accepting requirements, see Figure 8.1. Typically, requirements are issued by an external customer to a company (or an organisational party within it), or by the laĴer to an external supplier. In larger projects, such as commercial aircraĞ development, requirements need to be managed by different organisational parties within the same company as well.
