ABSTRACT

When the Governor Don Francisco Pizarro showed the Decree to the captains they determined to obey it, and to write a letter to the Adelantado, signed with their names, informing him that, though they had taken solemn oaths, the necessity for obeying what His Majesty ordered in a Decree just received prevented them from observing or keeping the oaths in any part.
