ABSTRACT

This study has given us a glimpse behind the scenes of humanitarian aid provision by two Dutch NGOs. The results of this study are of interest to various groups of readers. This book is informative for those who know little about the internal dynamics of humanitarian aid NGOs. For academics, the book is interesting to read because it connects well-known literature on organizational decision-making to the rather unfamiliar field of humanitarian aid operations. Besides, the study explores the relationship between decision-making processes, and organizational structures, theoretically and empirically. Donors, be they private or public, have the opportunity to learn more about the organizations they sponsor and support.
