ABSTRACT

This book aims to initiate a discussion about the immediate and long-term impact of conflict on agriculture, some of the issues that have to be considered for establishing sustainable agriculture and some of the grassroots and externally supported approaches to rehabilitate the agricultural sector. There are still many areas for research, and many areas that have not been discussed here, for example, the difficulties in finding a balance between large-scale internationally driven assistance, demanding the development of national policies such as poverty reduction strategy papers, and small-scale community-led processes.
