ABSTRACT
In the history of Caitanya Vaiṣṇavism, the sixteenth century, the period of the Gosvāmīs, was the time of its formation. Since Kṛṣṇa Caitanya, the charismatic inaugurator of the tradition, taught orally and did not compose his own works, it was his disciples who articulated Caitanya’s teachings and systematically laid the tradition’s foundation in the form of their writings.
