ABSTRACT
Managing legal information requires a basic understanding of the different types of legal information that there are. This chapter aims to explain the sources of the law and the various legal materials. Although many law libraries hold foreign legal materials, this chapter is confined to materials typically used by UK lawyers or those studying UK law. As European law in its various guises is now integral to UK law that is also treated, and there is some discussion of international legal materials in so far as they impinge on UK law.
