ABSTRACT

The following three chapters (5-7) present a summary of applied research findings relating to street-based (public) injecting drug use. Each of the three chapters incorporates visual data generated throughout the various studies of street-based injecting described in Chapter 3. Furthermore, each chapter is dedicated to particular themes, or ‘outcomes’, that were consistent in the four geographic areas of the research. In this particular chapter the theme relates to the environments and settings of street-based injecting; a theme which is perhaps fundamental to an inquiry concerning the relationship between ‘health’ and ‘place’.
