ABSTRACT

This chapter analyses the students perceptive on service-learning and the new teaching method. The most surprising finding here is how many find it both enjoyable and challenging at the same time. One would have expected them to either enjoy or feel challenged by the experience but not both. Some also found it had a significant impact on them whereas a smaller number say it introduced them to a different world. A relatively larger number were attracted to the practical nature of the method and some referred positively to the balance it provided to their college education. Finally, the chapter provides the results on the enjoyable, challenging nature of the method. Some refer to how it brought them into contact with a different world and indicate their engagement with the theory element of the method. Finally, a few refer to the freedom of the method, the balance it provides in the course and the learning responsibility it encourages.
