ABSTRACT
Nowhere does global health present a greater challenge than in Africa. The exploration of health governance in Africa has often been conducted in isolation, focusing on problems particular to Africa. The chapters in this volume respond to a growing need to develop a global health agenda that addresses the growing health crisis in Africa through reflecting on possible governance responses to the current health crisis in Africa, at both the national and regional levels, with some emphasis on exploring the broader implications for health governance in emerging governance models. Thus the chapters address Africa’s several health-sector issues identified by the five steps of the analytical framework presented in Chapter 1.
