ABSTRACT
In this chapter, scholarly writings on Aboriginal nature knowledge will be examined to discover the sorts of characterisations made. This chapter will not attempt to look at the details that make up this knowledge. At this stage, only the tone or style of the typifications is being examined. By taking this approach, the connections between the popular ideas noted in Chapter One and the ‘expert’ ideas noted here will become clearer.
