ABSTRACT

Renewable energy is more difficult to define, with solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy attracting the vast majority of investment that is currently taking place. This is driven by the investible nature of these proven technologies and their scalability. Additionally, bioenergy (including anaerobic digestion), hydropower, geothermal and marine (wave/tidal) are all included in the definition of renewable energy. One source of ‘classification’ for low-carbon energy assets is the Global Investor Coalition’s Low Carbon Investment registry.1
