ABSTRACT

As new sets of learning standards are introduced across the nation’s schools, many educators are unsure how these changes in focus and benchmarks will affect both their classroom instruction and their school’s climate. The truth is that every new set of standards introduced will impact each school reflective of how their staffs own them. Schools are in the driving seat to utilize, systemize, or even abdicate responsibility. Every new initiative provides a break from the past but its value and potential will grow, or diminish, as a result of staff desire to own the changes.
