ABSTRACT

Post-World War II development cooperation is complex and controversial. Since its evolvement in the 1960s, it has changed enormously. Debates about effectiveness, fragmentation or diversification accompany the development of the field. Following the emerging paradigm of sustainable development, donordriven support has greened over the last decades. Promoting sustainable energy has become a major field of official development assistance (ODA) activities. Talking about donor-driven renewable energy support needs to reflect these major trends.
